Yoga for Freediving: Back to Basics is the week that every freediver should do at least once in their training career. It covers the foundations of the mental aspects of the sport, taking us into an understanding of how awareness can unblock the blocks and bring in the bliss. From beginner to advanced, as we learn and progress, we experience new challenges, we unlock new fears. This training is the best way to understand, confront and overcome those challenges whatever stage you are at in your freediving.
More about this programme
With maximum eight participants in any group, and two coaches per group, you will receive in-depth training in yogic principles and practice, meditation and pranayama and learn how to apply these directly to your freediving. Each session includes an opportunity to ask the questions that need to be asked, and receive personal coaching with Sara. Each and every participant is an individual and will be given as much attention, both in and out of the water, as is necessary to transform the fears and frustrations to ease and effortlessness.
Who is it for?
Anyone with a basic freediving certification from a recognised education agency is welcome to join this week. We do not accept complete beginners. If you are a complete beginner and want to take part, we can arrange a beginners course before the training starts. Please email us if you are interested in this option.
Each training day includes theory, yoga, meditation and pranayama sessions of between 2-3 hours, and then our in-water training, which is as long as it needs to be. The schedule below is a rough outline, but as Sara works intuitively with the challenges that each student presents, there may be some alterations as we move through the week:
Friday/Saturday : Arrivals and relaxation
Sunday : Yoga class and welcome lunch
Monday : Essentials for deep freediving
Tuesday : How to deeply relax
Wednesday : Rest day (includes free 1 hour massage)
Thursday : Letting go through fun (includes full day luxury boat safari)
Friday : Mind, body, spirit - integrated approach to freediving (at Blue Hole)
Saturday : Departures or rest
